What formats are the media elements?
Video: Broadcast standard MPEG2 (NTSC as standard and PAL where noted on the description)
Audio: Low Compression mp3
Photos: High Resolution (300dpi) JPEG

Why do I need a user name/password?
As this high resolution and broadcast media element site is used primarily by journalists and media, the registration process helps us to serve their needs and requests more fully.

How do I download the elements to my desktop/edit station?
Log In - the "Add to my Clips"� button is now next to each media element and also in the media preview player.
Hit the Add to My Clips button for each element you want
To download go to My Clips and hit Download

What MPEG2 compression specifications do you use?
Program Stream MPEG 2
Encoded at 8 mbps
4:2:0 ratio

Can you ftp media elements to me?
At this time elements are only available via this site as a download.

I can not view the downloaded video file using QuickTime
Our broadcast quality video is in a MPEG2 format. If using QuickTime ensure you have the MPEG2 plugin available from the Apple Store

The downloaded MPEG2 video has no audio when I import it into my editing program
MPEG2 video is "muxed" meaning the audio is mixed into the file. In order to import an "unmuxed file" to your editing program you may need to convert the MPEG2 video into a format you edit with (e.g. QuickTime or AVI). Converters such as Autodesk Cleaner or Canapus ProCoder are recommended.
